The Friends of Foothills Schools Foundation is a registered charitable organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for students within the Foothills School Division. The Foundation works in partnership with school councils, educators, families, donors, and community organizations to fund initiatives that enrich student learning beyond core educational funding.

Through grants, community partnerships, and fundraising efforts, the Foundation helps bring innovative programs, resources, and opportunities into local schools — supporting student success, engagement, and well-being.

The Friends of Foothills Schools Foundation is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven leader to serve as Executive Director. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a flexible, part-time leadership position and is energized by fundraising, collaboration, and community impact.
​
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director advances the Foundation’s mission of enhancing educational opportunities within Foothills schools. As the Foundation’s lead representative and operational manager, the Executive Director works closely with school councils, donors, community partners, and the Foothills School Division to ensure sustainable funding and measurable impact.
​
This is both a strategic and hands-on role combining governance support, fundraising leadership, stakeholder engagement, and operational oversight.​

Key Responsibilities
​
​
Strategic Leadership & Governance
-
Provide leadership aligned with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and Board-approved strategic priorities
-
Support the Board of Directors in governance, planning, and policy development
-
Prepare materials and reports for Board meetings, including strategic updates and recommendations
-
Ensure compliance with applicable charitable regulations, policies, and best practices
-
Support annual planning and goal-setting processes

Fund Development & Donor Relations
​

Lead and support grant writing, donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and fundraising initiatives
-
Personally identify, cultivate, and secure grants and donations
-
Maintain strong relationships with key donors, sponsors, granting bodies, and community stakeholders
-
Collaborate with Board members to strengthen overall fundraising capacity
-
Ensure ethical fundraising practices and strong donor stewardship

Financial Oversight & Accountability
​

Work closely with the Treasurer to support budget development and financial planning
-
Ensure accurate financial tracking and responsible stewardship of funds
-
Monitor revenues, expenditures, and project-based funding
-
Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial and impact reports
-
Track key performance indicators related to fundraising and outreach

Communications & Marketing Engagement
​

Serve as primary liaison to school councils and community stakeholders
-
Collaborate with Foothills School Division administration, school leaders, and volunteers to identify funding needs and opportunities

Represent the Foundation at meetings, events, and community engagements
-
Provide oversight and strategic direction for communications and social media

Review and approve public-facing messaging, campaigns, and materials
-
Support storytelling that highlights impact and donor value

Operational & Administration
​

Oversee day-to-day operations within approved scope and budget

Develop and maintain operational systems, documentation, and procedures

Ensure effective record-keeping for grants, donors, and funded projects

Support volunteer coordination where applicable

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all Foundation matters

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board

Qualifications & Experience
​

Experience in nonprofit or charitable leadership, fundraising, or administration
-
Demonstrated success in grant writing and donor development
-
Strong financial literacy and ability to collaborate on budgets and reports
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
-
Ability to work independently and manage priorities within a limited monthly time commitment
