Empowering Public Educators and Student Programs in the Foothills

Who We Are

The Friends of Foothills Schools Foundation is dedicated to providing a rich and diverse educational environment for all Foothills School Division students through research-driven innovation and to extending the boundaries of each individual student’s potential, allowing them to “explore, develop, and celebrate” their achievements. We help to inspire lifelong learning, to advance knowledge, and to strengthen our communities.

The Foundation will offer funding opportunities for the benefit of advancing education in public schools within Foothills School Division boundaries. This includes our SPARK Grant applications available for School Councils, the Literacy Playground to help young students catch up in literacy before entering Grade 3, and may include financial assistance to students through an outreach available to principals and school leadership networks. As we grow we hope to expand into education programs; community groups and clubs; alumni associations; and education-related conferences open to the parent engagement.

Advancing Literacy Together

This year, we launched a pilot program to support students in achieving grade level literacy.
Thanks to the generous grants from Calgary Foundation and Cargill, we supported 23 students in reaching this goal. 45% of students met or exceeded grade level expectations; 35% were approaching grade level reading, and all students improved and gained confidence.

We couldn’t have achieved this success without our incredible partners.
